Acerca de Yolanda
I’m Yolanda, a Spanish teacher and a language learner myself.
I know from both sides how different understanding a language is from actually using it when someone is standing in front of you waiting for an answer.
That difference fascinates me.
It is also where I love to work.
My classes are one-to-one and personalised, but I don’t want them to feel like a rigid traditional lesson.
We talk.
We laugh.
We work with things that actually matter to you.
Your life. Your work. The people you want to speak Spanish with. The situations you want to handle. The Spanish you hear around you and wish you could understand or use yourself.
Sometimes a class can almost feel like a really good conversation with someone you have known for a long time.
But underneath that conversation, I am listening carefully.
I notice where you get stuck, what you already do well and what needs to come next.
So no, we are not just chatting for an hour and hoping your Spanish magically improves.
There is a clear direction behind it.
You bring your interests, questions and real-life situations.
I bring the pedagogical direction.
Together, we build Spanish that actually belongs to you.
And because I am a language learner too, I know that ridiculous moment when you know the word and somehow it disappears exactly when you need it.
But there is another kind of moment I love seeing in my students.
The moment when something suddenly clicks and they think:
“Wait. I just did that in Spanish.”
I want you to have more and more of those moments.
Not just inside our lessons.
Outside them too.
At work. With friends. In the middle of a conversation you would once have watched from the sidelines.
That is the point for me.
Spanish becomes more than something you study.
It starts becoming part of how you work, connect with people and live your life.

You already have some Spanish.
Maybe just the basics. Maybe quite a lot.
You know some vocabulary. Some grammar. Maybe you can understand quite a lot or already put sentences together.
So, in theory, your Spanish should be starting to work.
Then real life happens.
Lunch with your colleagues gets faster and you start smiling instead of joining in.
Someone makes a joke. You understand it, but by the time you find the words to answer, the moment is gone.
A waiter asks something you weren’t expecting and the little conversation you had prepared in your head suddenly stops working.
That feeling is horrible:
You know more Spanish than you can actually use.
But here’s the important part.
You don’t need to know more Spanish before you start doing more in Spanish.
You don’t have to study and study until one magical day you finally feel “ready” to speak.
It works the other way around.
You start speaking with the Spanish you already have. And by speaking more, you learn more.
The Spanish you have now can already take you much further than you think.
And that is only the beginning.
First, you unlock what is already there.
Then, conversation by conversation, you build on it.
Words and expressions that once felt out of reach start becoming yours.
Little by little, the experience changes.
You stop just smiling.
You answer.
You react to the joke.
You join the conversation instead of watching it from the outside.
And one missing word stops feeling like the end of the conversation.
Not knowing one word no longer means having nothing to say.
Even before your Spanish reaches the level you want, your communication can already be really, really good.
And from there, you keep moving forward.
You speak more.
You understand more.
You say more.
Your Spanish becomes richer, faster, more natural and more yours.
Conversation after conversation.
Level after level.
It’s almost like unlocking a little superpower and then making it stronger every time you use it.
Grammar?
Of course.
But grammar is there to help you speak, not to make you spend an hour staring at a worksheet wondering why Spanish needs quite so many verb endings.
We work on grammar when it helps you say something you could not say before.
The same with vocabulary.
Because the goal is not to keep collecting Spanish in your head.
The goal is to use it, build on it and make it part of your real life.
