Hello, my name is Leigham, so why choose me as your tutor? My experience has allowed me to hone and develop my own teaching style and philosophy based around my students and their interests. I believe in student led learning and helping students form and foster a passion for their subjects. As a teacher I consider it fundamental to an engaging learning environment that students come up their own ideas and are offered the opportunity to explore them in creative ways.

Over my career I have had experience teaching IB, British KS1, Cambridge and international curriculums. In addition to CELTA and TEFL teaching qualifications, I also hold a BA (Hon) in English from Goldsmiths University of London.
The bulk of my experience is within primary schools teaching children aged from 6 to 10 years old. I am trained and qualified to deliver the International Baccalaureate primary years programme (PYP) and I spent four years in the UAE as a IB Grade 3 Homeroom teacher, delivering a range of subjects to young ESL learners. One of the four years was taught exclusively online due to the pandemic.
Previous to this, I worked for three years as a course coordinator and lead teacher at a Salesians of Don Bosco school’s intensive English programme (IEP). The programme was aimed at students from primary grades 1 to 5 and used a predominantly British curriculum which we modified and developed for ESL learners, and to meet the school’s needs.
Most recently I have been working as a freelance tutor
with individuals and small groups in preparation for various examinations including ILETS, Oxford, ESO and Bachillerato. I have also been proof reading to give guidance and support to CVs, job aplications and essay writing up to C2 level.
